Law enforcement agencies in Uzbekistan's Andijan Region have detained six individuals suspected of kidnapping and publicly humiliating a female resident of the Izboskan District. The suspects allegedly forcibly took the woman to a deserted location, cut her hair against her will, and recorded the act on video with the intent to distribute it on social media.
According to the press service of the regional police department, the incident occurred on December 23 of last year, stemming from suspicions of marital infidelity. The organizer of the crime was a 34-year-old woman who, while receiving treatment at a hospital, enlisted three acquaintances aged 21 to 30 to carry out the revenge plan.
The 27-year-old victim was deceived into going to a medical facility, where she was subjected to humiliating actions. Subsequently, two men aged 26 and 27 joined the incident. The victim was forced into a white Gentra car and taken to a deserted area in the "Jevachi" neighborhood of Andijan District, where her hair was cut with clippers. A video recording of the process, made by one of the participants, was later published online, sparking public outrage.
The investigative department under the Andijan City Police Department has initiated a criminal case under Part 2, Clause "v" of Article 137 ("Kidnapping") of the Criminal Code. The suspects have been detained in accordance with procedural norms, and the organizer confessed her guilt during interrogation. The investigation has been placed under special supervision by the Andijan Regional Prosecutor's Office.
