At a meeting on the socio-economic development of Samarkand Region chaired by Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Navoi Region’s Narpay District, it was announced that record funds have been allocated for the region. During the session, it was emphasized that Samarkand should become a model province in reducing unemployment and poverty, as well as increasing investments and exports.

In his address, President Mirziyoyev stated: “We have set even higher goals to increase the power and potential of our Homeland, to improve the life of every family and every person. Today, seeing the work being carried out in the regions, I became convinced of this once again. At the same time, we must clearly understand: what was sufficient yesterday does not meet today’s requirements, and today’s efforts may prove insufficient for tomorrow’s tasks. Therefore, to achieve the set goals, we need to act even more effectively.”

Decisions on fund allocations were made: $100 million has been allocated to improve mahalla infrastructure in Samarkand Region, with an additional $50 million separately for Urgut District. In total, 11 trillion soums are being directed to the region from all sources, and entrepreneurs are being provided with an additional 18 trillion soums in credit resources. It was underscored that these funds are larger in volume than any previously allocated.

These investments are aimed at reducing unemployment and poverty in the districts and ultimately boosting the region’s economic growth. However, questions remain about the effectiveness of such large-scale infusions and their practical outcomes, given that infrastructure projects and social programs in the country often face delays and implementation challenges.
