The Imam Maturidi Memorial Complex in Samarkand is undergoing extensive reconstruction, transforming it into a modern center for pilgrimage and education. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev personally inspected the progress of work at the Chokardiza cemetery on March 19, where a unique architectural ensemble is being created to mark the 1155th anniversary of the great theologian. On a 10.2-hectare site, construction is underway for a 250-person mosque, a main entrance portal, a scientific center, a library, a museum, and a parking lot.

A significant discovery during the work was the identification of the burial site of the prominent jurist Burhaniddin Margilani, over which a mausoleum is now being erected. This finding adds historical depth to the complex, enriching its narrative and highlighting the region's scholarly heritage.

The President emphasized that the complex should not only impress with its architecture but also reveal to visitors the relevance of Maturidi's spiritual legacy for the contemporary world, aiming to make it a focal point for Muslims globally. He stressed the goal of turning the site into an attraction that draws pilgrims and scholars from around the planet.

During the visit, instructions were given to complete the construction within the set deadlines, with particular attention to the quality of finishing work and the expansion of green areas. The head of state noted that the renewed appearance of the shrine should match the high status of the scholars who have brought fame to the region for centuries, underscoring the importance of preserving cultural and intellectual heritage.
