Uzbekistan's Ambassador to India, Sardor Rustambayev, held a meeting with India's Deputy Minister of External Affairs, Sibi George, in Delhi. The talks focused on key areas of cooperation between the two countries, including political consultations and the schedule of upcoming visits at various levels. From the Uzbek side, India's interest in strengthening strategic partnership was noted.

Special emphasis was placed on economic diplomacy: in April, Tashkent will host the 14th meeting of the Uzbekistan-India Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, and Scientific-Technical Cooperation. This meeting will serve as a crucial platform for discussing new initiatives aimed at boosting trade and investments between the two nations.

India supported Uzbekistan's initiatives, including the process of accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the proposal to adopt a Declaration on Nuclear Security within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). Additionally, the idea of holding a Digital Technologies Forum in 2026 under the “India – Central Asia” dialogue format was endorsed.

The meeting resulted in an agreement to hold meetings with members of the friendship group with Uzbekistan in the Indian Parliament and to launch a process of inventorying the bilateral treaty-legal base. These initiatives are designed to further solidify legal cooperation between the two states.

It was previously announced that an “India – Uzbekistan” Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group has been established. This new structure is intended to enhance strategic partnership between the countries and will help coordinate future joint programs.
