The Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan announced preliminary data for the 2024 cotton harvest. According to the ministry, the cotton yield across the country increased by 15% compared to last year, reaching 4 million tons, which is the highest figure in Uzbekistan's history. The ministry attributes this result to the introduction of modern irrigation technologies and the improvement of cotton varieties.

Among the regions leading in cotton production, Fergana, Andijan, and Syrdarya regions stand out. State subsidies and loans provided to farms are cited as one of the reasons for the high yield in these areas. However, some experts emphasize that along with the increase in harvest, challenges such as limited water resources and climate change persist.

The government leadership plans to launch new projects for the development of the cotton industry. Additionally, information has been provided about intentions to build cotton processing plants and expand export opportunities. While these initiatives aim to boost economic contributions, financial and technical difficulties may arise during their implementation.
