Uzbekistan has introduced a new system for obtaining state automobile license plates, with the launch of the mobile application AvtoRaqam. Through this app, users can now select and purchase license plates in real-time from available combinations. This system was implemented following the cancellation of plate sales through the commodity exchange, which previously included auctions for "beautiful" number combinations.

The selection process is divided into two types: individual plates are chosen by users themselves, while standard plates are distributed automatically through random generation. This approach aims to reduce human influence and ensure direct acquisition of plates without intermediaries, potentially enhancing transparency in the process.

The system is fully digitized, making it accessible to individuals, legal entities, and stateless persons. The AvtoRaqam app is available for download on App Store and Play Market, facilitating easy access to the service.

The launch of this new system is intended to streamline the process of obtaining license plates for car owners and increase openness. However, questions remain about its practical effectiveness and whether it will encounter technical issues, given past challenges with similar systems in the country.
