According to data from the "Uzavtosanoat" association, official dealers in Uzbekistan sold 57,512 cars in January-February 2026. This represents a 14.1% increase (or 7,139 units) compared to the same period last year. The most significant growth was seen in the electric vehicle segment, with sales of the BYD Yuan Up model increasing more than sixfold.
Sales of the most popular models from UzAuto Motors – the Cobalt and Damas – declined. Demand also fell for Chevrolet's premium segment vehicles – the Malibu, Captiva, Equinox, and Traverse. UzAuto Motors' market share decreased from 82.4% to 79.3% compared to the same period last year. Out of the company's 10 models, only 4 – the Tracker, Onix, Labo, and Tahoe – showed sales growth.
The market share of foreign cars increased significantly. ADM Jizzakh (supplier of Kia, Chery, and Haval vehicles) raised its share from 11.4% to 12.5%, with sales volume growing from 5,762 to 7,202 units. BYD's market share increased from 5.7% to 8%, with sales volume rising from 2,862 to 4,621 units. The best-selling car not belonging to the Chevrolet brand was the Kia Sonet.
Uzbekistan's automotive market, long characterized as closed and stable, has recently undergone notable changes. Long queues and limited choices in car dealerships have been replaced by growing demand for imported electric vehicles, hybrids, and crossovers with futuristic designs. These shifts are intensifying competitive pressure on local manufacturers and reshaping the market structure.
