Starting April 1, construction of 'green walls' has begun in Surkhandarya and Syrdarya regions to prevent dust storms. These measures are outlined in President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's decree on implementing the 'Clean Air' project. Under the project, suitable tree and shrub species have been selected for these areas, with their quantities and planting methods determined.
In Tashkent, work on creating dendroparks has also started from April 1. New green zones will be established on 250 hectares of land belonging to the Institute of Nuclear Physics in Mirzo Ulugbek district and on 83 hectares near Green University, including the Kibray area. By the end of the year, a 4.36-hectare green public park is planned on the site of the former city oncology center on Bogiston Street in Chilanzar district.
By the end of 2026, construction of 4 artificial lakes or reservoirs is planned in Tashkent, along with at least one fountain on state university territories, totaling up to 15 fountains, and at least one fountain in each district of the city, starting from April 1. A system for composting and mulching fallen leaves will be implemented nationwide to enhance soil fertility, retain moisture, and promote healthy plant growth.
To improve transboundary environmental conditions, a consultation meeting is planned to coordinate joint activities with the government of Kazakhstan. These measures are part of broad-scale initiatives aimed at addressing environmental issues and developing green infrastructure in the country.
