The appearance of Moroccan locusts has been recorded in several regions of Uzbekistan, including Kashkadarya, Surkhandarya, Samarkand, and Jizzakh provinces. The pests are currently in an early development stage (age 1–2 years), allowing specialists to begin eliminating the outbreaks before the insects start mass migration.

According to the specialized inspection under the Cabinet of Ministers, a large-scale campaign to protect the harvest has already begun: chemical treatment has been carried out on an area of over 3,600 hectares, with more than 22,000 hectares of land under constant monitoring.

In the current season, it is planned to secure about 651.8 thousand hectares across the republic. For this purpose, a robust technical fleet has been formed, including nearly 200 tractor sprayers and over 1,000 units of special equipment.

The fight against the pest is being conducted around the clock by 700 specialists organized into operational teams. Although about 200 species of locusts inhabit the country, only 6–8 of them pose an annual real threat to agriculture.

Authorities emphasize that the chemical treatment of fields is conducted completely free of charge. Residents are urged to promptly report new outbreaks via short numbers 1288 or 71 202 10 00.
