Tashkent – AN Podrobno.uz. One of the largest international awards in sustainable development and humanitarian innovation, the Zayed Sustainability Prize, has announced the opening of applications for its new 2026-2027 cycle. Small and medium-sized businesses, non-profit organizations, and secondary schools are invited to participate.
The prize, established in honor of the legacy of the founder of the United Arab Emirates and its first president, Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, has for 18 years recognized projects aimed at solving global challenges. The competition covers key areas including healthcare, food security, energy, water supply, climate change mitigation, and the development of school initiatives.
Organizers note that projects from past laureates already demonstrate significant impact. For example, developments in artificial intelligence are used for early diagnosis of developmental disorders in children, while solutions in energy and water supply help reduce carbon dioxide emissions and save millions of liters of water daily. Specific initiatives have enabled the creation of thousands of jobs and improved access to basic resources in dozens of countries worldwide.
In the new cycle, the total prize fund has been increased to $7.2 million. Winners in the main categories for organizations will receive $1 million each, while schools will receive $150,000 each. Monetary prizes for finalists have also been introduced: organizations can receive $100,000 each, and school projects $25,000 each.
According to prize representatives, the initiative continues to support solutions capable of making a real impact on people's quality of life, especially in vulnerable regions of the world. Applications will be accepted until June 22, 2026, on the prize's official website.
