The Ministry of Preschool and School Education of Uzbekistan has approved the regulations for admitting children to the first grade for the 2026/2027 academic year, with a primary focus on significantly expanding digital services. This move aims to enhance transparency and streamline administrative procedures for parents nationwide, as part of broader efforts to modernize the education system and reduce bureaucratic hurdles.

The geography of electronic enrollment will now cover 135 districts and cities, more than doubling the previous 64. The number of schools connected to the online registration system will increase from 1,956 to 5,689 institutions, substantially broadening access to digital platforms and alleviating the administrative burden on families seeking school placements.

The document submission process will be organized in two consecutive stages through the Unified Portal of Interactive State Services (my.gov.uz) or the ministry's specialized platform (my.maktab.uz). The first stage, running from June 20 to July 31, 2026, will involve enrollment strictly within the micro-districts assigned to schools based on the family's place of residence. The second stage, from August 1 to the end of the month, will allow parents to choose schools outside their micro-district, but only if there are available spots in the desired institution.

According to the established norms of the Law "On Education," children who turn seven years old in the year of admission are eligible for first-grade enrollment. Consequently, for the 2026/2027 academic cycle, children born on or before December 31, 2019, will be accepted. This centralized and digitized approach is designed to ensure a more equitable distribution of school places and simplify interactions between parents and educational authorities across the republic.
