Uzbekistan will permit the sale of pharmaceutical products through online platforms and marketplaces, while also implementing a delivery system for them. This is outlined in a presidential decree aimed at developing e-commerce in the country.

According to the document, the National Agency for Perspective Projects (NAPP) and the Ministry of Health must prepare proposals for introducing online trading for pharmacy networks within three months. A mandatory requirement will be the establishment of order pickup points at every pharmacy participating in the system.

To protect product quality, strict transportation rules are being introduced. Courier services will be required to use thermal containers for transporting drugs sensitive to temperature conditions. Opening factory packaging during delivery will be strictly prohibited.

The project to digitize the pharmaceutical sector is part of a strategy to achieve an e-commerce turnover of 30 trillion soums by 2030. The program also envisages attracting $300 million in investments and creating 7,500 jobs.

Previously, Uzbekistan decided to simplify rules for e-commerce and will test a new mechanism—so-called bond warehouses.
