In the city of Bekabad, Uzbekistan, a joint operation by customs officers of Tashkent Region and the State Security Service has thwarted an attempt to illegally transport 25.8 kilograms of narcotic substances and a batch of contraband tobacco across the border.
Two individuals were apprehended while crossing the border fence. Upon inspection of their hand luggage—two bags and a sack—officials discovered 25 bundles with suspicious contents.
Subsequent examination confirmed that the detainees were attempting to move a large drug shipment consisting of 20 kilograms 706 grams of hashish and 5 kilograms 112 grams of opium. Additionally, among their belongings, 380 packs of Esse Change cigarettes without excise stamps and one special tear-inducing device were found.
Currently, a criminal case has been initiated by the customs authorities regarding this incident, and the investigation continues to establish all circumstances of the offense.
