A ceremonial event was held in Tashkent to honor Grandmaster Javokhir Sindorov, who set a historic record at the FIDE Candidates Tournament. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev personally presented the chess player with the 'Mehnat Shuhrati' order, emphasizing that this achievement is a victory for the entire people and all of New Uzbekistan.

Speaking at the event, the head of state highlighted the athlete's exceptional willpower and the role of his family in this accomplishment. Mirziyoyev stated that no result comes on its own; behind it lies years of relentless work, experience accumulated since childhood, strong will, iron discipline, as well as the guidance of mentors and the prayers of parents, grandparents, and relatives.

The president expressed gratitude to Javokhir Sindorov's family and coaches, noting that today, two Uzbekistani players are among the top five strongest chess players in the world. The head of state expressed confidence that the country's chess school will perform admirably in the upcoming world championship match and at the World Chess Olympiad scheduled for September in Samarkand.

It is recalled that Grandmaster Javokhir Sindorov achieved a triumphant victory at the Candidates Tournament, which took place in Peya, Cyprus. According to regulations, the Uzbek chess player will participate in the 2026 world championship match. His opponent in the battle for the title of the strongest on the planet will be the reigning 2025 world champion, India's Dommaraju Gukesh.
