The Hydrometeorological Service of Uzbekistan (Uzhydromet) has issued an emergency warning regarding deteriorating weather conditions in several parts of the country. Today, April 20, strong winds accompanied by dust storms are expected in seven regions of the republic.

According to meteorologists, the adverse conditions will affect the Republic of Karakalpakstan, as well as the Khorezm, Bukhara, Navoi, Jizzakh, Syrdarya, and Surkhandarya regions. Wind speeds in these areas may reach 15-20 meters per second, leading to dust and sand drifts that could significantly reduce visibility on roads.

Uzhydromet advises residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures, such as not leaving vehicles under trees or advertising structures and limiting outdoor activities during periods of intensified wind. This warning is aimed at mitigating risks to road safety and public health.

The worsening weather could negatively impact agriculture and transportation systems, potentially causing short-term disruptions to regional economic activities. Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation and will provide further updates as needed.
