According to the Tax Committee of Uzbekistan as of April 1, 2026, the number of construction enterprises with tax debts exceeding 100 million soms stood at 1,944. Their total debt reached 3.2 trillion soms, highlighting significant economic challenges in the country. The bulk of the debt is concentrated among large companies, revealing imbalances within the sector.

40.4% of the debt, amounting to 1.3 trillion soms, is owed by the 10 largest debtors. These figures underscore the depth of financial difficulties in the construction industry, raising concerns about the government's tax collection policies. Experts warn that such high levels of debt could lead to delays in infrastructure projects and hinder economic growth.

A regional breakdown of tax debts shows Tashkent City leading with 975.7 billion soms, followed by Andijan Region with 714.5 billion soms and Tashkent Region with 229.1 billion soms. This reflects regional economic disparities and prompts questions about the effectiveness of local tax enforcement measures.
