Uzbekistan, Tashkent – AN Podrobno.uz. IT Park will establish an R&D (Research and Development) center in Nurafshan. This center will focus on seeking new ideas, implementing innovations, and improving products and technologies.
The plans were revealed following a presentation to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev dedicated to reforms in artificial intelligence and digitalization. According to the presidential press service, the project is valued at $200 million. The center will be built on a 7.3-hectare site.
It will include six high-tech laboratories, a computing center with 200 GPUs for artificial intelligence, a startup campus, and a commercialization center. Implementation is scheduled for 2027-2031.
It was noted that the number of startups in the country has reached 950, a 37.5% increase from last year. The number of venture funds has grown to 22, and the volume of attracted investments amounted to $132 million. The ecosystem is currently valued at $4.3 billion.
In the IT sector, plans aim to employ 300,000 young people by 2030. To achieve this, the digital ecosystem in the regions will be expanded.
Additionally, state enterprises and banks will be required to coordinate IT service imports with the Agency for Industrial Cooperation. At least 45% of software products are planned to be localized domestically. Orders will be directed to IT Park residents – its new branches will open in Samarkand, Namangan, Syrdarya, and Bukhara.
On the same day, the head of state was given a presentation on healthcare development and expanding private sector participation. It was noted that private clinics will be allowed to perform organ transplants. Also, non-state medical organizations will be able to provide services at the expense of budget funds in all areas within the framework of their existing license.
