German Vice Chancellor and Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil has sharply criticized U.S. President Donald Trump for creating a 'mess' in the Iran conflict, urging him to focus on ending the war and initiating peace talks.

Speaking at a Labor Day event in Bergkamen, Klingbeil pushed back against Trump's recent attacks on Chancellor Friedrich Merz, asserting that Germany does not need advice from the American leader.

'We really don't need any advice from Donald Trump right now. He should see the mess he's made. He should make sure that serious peace talks are now being held in Iran,' Klingbeil said.

The vice chancellor questioned Trump's initial expectations, suggesting the president believed the conflict would be resolved in a matter of days. He called on Trump to ensure that the economic fallout does not burden workers, consumers, and businesses.

Klingbeil also stressed the importance of European economic independence, stating, 'I don't want us to be dependent on what mood Donald Trump is in today or tomorrow.'

The remarks come after Merz accused the U.S. of entering the conflict without a clear strategy and warned that Iran was humiliating Washington in negotiations. Trump responded by calling Merz 'clueless' and urging him to focus on domestic issues.
