President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree awarding the Order of Friendship (Do‘stlik) posthumously to British citizens John and Phyllis Emily Le Breton.
According to the decree, during World War II, the Le Bretons sheltered an Uzbek soldier, Bokijon Akramov, who had escaped from a Nazi concentration camp on the island of Jersey, saving his life.
Their act was recognized as a high example of humanity, courage, and kindness. It was also noted that they made a worthy contribution to promoting the ideas of peace, friendship, and brotherhood among the peoples of the world.
Although John and Phyllis Emily Le Breton have passed away, their memory and heroism are highly honored by Uzbekistan and immortalized with this state award.
