President Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation headed by Japanese Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama on the sidelines of the Asian Development Bank Board of Governors meeting, the presidential press service reported.

The meeting was also attended by Nobumitsu Hayashi, Governor of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), and Masao Yahara, Senior Vice President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

At the outset, the high-ranking guest conveyed greetings and best wishes from Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi to the Uzbek leader.

It was noted that the head of state's visit to Japan in December 2025 marked a new era in bilateral relations, according to the statement.

During the talks, the President of Uzbekistan put forward a number of promising proposals for modernizing the country's financial system, including the introduction of artificial intelligence in treasury operations, digital financial transformation, and training highly qualified specialists in this field.

Positive trends in economic cooperation were highlighted. Trade turnover is growing, and major investment projects are being implemented with the participation of leading Japanese companies.

An agreement was also reached to accelerate socially significant projects in renewable energy, healthcare, information technology, transport, and agriculture.
