Social media reports circulated about the death of a schoolgirl in Namangan region. It was alleged that the girl was fatally wounded by her fiancé after a quarrel over a prom dress.
According to the Prosecutor General's Office, the tragedy occurred on the morning of May 6 in Kasansay district. A conflict arose between a local resident and his fiancée, an 11th-grade student, over jealousy. During the argument, the man stabbed the girl several times in the chest and abdomen, then fled the scene.
The victim was taken to a hospital but could not be saved — she died from her injuries.
An investigative team arrived at the scene. Law enforcement conducted an inspection, seized physical evidence, and ordered necessary examinations.
The Kasansay district prosecutor's office opened a criminal case under Article 97, Part 1 of Uzbekistan's Criminal Code ("Premeditated Murder"). The suspect has been detained, and the investigation is ongoing.
