Uzbekistan's U-17 national football team made a triumphant start to their Asian Cup campaign in Saudi Arabia, thrashing their Indian counterparts 3-0 in the opening group match. The team, coached by Sergey Chigodayev, dominated the game from start to finish.

The goals came from Laziz Abduraimov (penalty) and Akhror Ravshanbekov, with an additional own goal scored by an Indian defender.

This victory secured Uzbekistan's early qualification for the quarterfinals and, crucially, a spot in the FIFA U-17 World Cup. The situation in Group D was simplified after North Korea's withdrawal, leaving three teams vying for two spots.

Earlier, Australia had beaten India 4-0, meaning Uzbekistan's win guaranteed them at least second place in the group.

The final group match against Australia is scheduled for May 13, but the primary objective of the season has already been achieved. The U-17 World Cup will be held in Qatar in November-December 2026, where Uzbekistan's young talents will represent the nation on the global stage.
