The President of Uzbekistan has signed a decree introducing compensation for part of the interest payments on loans for cotton and wheat producers. The amount of support will depend on the loan repayment period, starting from the 2026 harvest.
Payments will be made by the Agency for Payments in the Agricultural Sector under the Ministry of Agriculture. Cotton producers can receive a 2.5 percentage point compensation on concessional loans if repaid on time, and 5 percentage points if fully repaid by December 31.
Wheat farmers are eligible for a 4 percentage point compensation provided the loan is fully repaid by August 1.
Cotton-textile clusters and full-cycle enterprises (from raw materials to yarn) can compensate part of the interest payments on commercial loans exceeding 8% but not exceeding 16%.
Simultaneously, the government is launching a reform of agricultural education, introducing new three-year training programs focused on practical skills and direct work in production.
