Uzbekistan has introduced stricter regulations for environmentally clean zones, including resort and recreational areas. Amendments to the Law on Protected Natural Territories impose new bans on harmful industries, interference with nature, and certain types of plastic.

The amendments prohibit any work that could disrupt ecosystem stability, alter natural landscapes, or affect groundwater conditions. Construction and operation of industrial facilities with negative environmental impact are also banned.

A separate provision restricts the production, sale, and supply of certain plastic products, with the list to be determined by the Cabinet of Ministers. Products made from natural organic polymers are exempt.

Additionally, any activity that, based on state environmental expert review, may harm protected natural objects and complexes is prohibited.

The law will take effect three months after official publication. Earlier, Uzbekistan announced the creation of an official registry of specially valuable natural objects.
