On May 18, within the framework of the World Urbanization Forum, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Director of the UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), Anacláudia Rossbach.
The main topic of the dialogue was discussing prospects for expanding cooperation on sustainable urban development, improving urban infrastructure, and introducing modern approaches in urban planning.
During the talks, the parties reviewed in detail the implementation of agreements reached at the Samarkand Climate Forum last year. Meeting participants emphasized the high importance of further strengthening interaction.
As practical steps, they outlined the start of preparing a joint “roadmap,” active promotion of relevant projects, and expansion of expert exchange.
Additionally, a thorough exchange of views took place on the practical implementation of key initiatives put forward by the leader of Uzbekistan at the current World Urbanization Forum. The parties expressed readiness to join efforts to create a more comfortable and environmentally friendly urban environment.
