In May, hail suppression operations were carried out in the Kosonsoy and Yangikurgan districts of Namangan region. According to Uzhydromet, on May 1, 11, and 12, a total of 57 Alazan-6 anti-hail devices were deployed, weakening the hail formation process.

The Hydrometeorological Process Impact Service under Uzhydromet is conducting operations to protect crops from adverse weather in high-hail-activity areas of Namangan, Samarkand, Kashkadarya, and Surkhandarya regions.

Due to global climate change, Uzbekistan has seen an increase in short-term heavy precipitation—rain, downpours, and hail—during spring. Although total precipitation has not decreased, it now falls in shorter periods, leading to mudflows and floods.

Analysis of past years shows the number of days with hail processes in spring and summer: 33 days in 2020, 34 in 2021, 29 in 2022, 24 in 2023, and 40 in 2024. In 2025, 13 days have been recorded so far.

Uzhydromet noted that short-term hail events may still occur even after cloud seeding operations. The service's units are operating on a regular schedule during the hail suppression season, and work on convective clouds continues.
