Law enforcement agencies in Tashkent have liquidated a large opium poppy plantation in the Almazar district. During a joint special operation by officers of the city's Main Internal Affairs Directorate, the State Security Service, and the district prosecutor's office, about 260 bushes of narcotic plants were discovered on the territory of a private household.
The height of the seized plants ranged from 20 centimeters to one and a half meters. All bushes have been confiscated and sent for forensic biological examination, based on the results of which a legal assessment will be given to the actions of the homeowner and a procedural decision will be made.
The department reminded that narcotic drugs have a serious negative impact on human health, causing destructive consequences for the nervous system, memory, and internal organs, as well as leading to addiction.
Earlier, a 43-year-old woman, mother of five children, was sentenced to three years and eight months in prison for illegally growing cannabis.
