A tragic incident occurred in the Sariasia district of Surkhandarya region, where a 13-year-old girl drowned in the Tupolang River.

The girl, a resident of the Afrosiyob mahalla, was swept away by the strong current. Emergency services launched an immediate search, but could not save her.

Her body was found the next day, May 15, downstream in the same riverbed, on the territory of the Ittifoq mahalla in Denau district.

A forensic medical examination concluded that death was caused by mechanical asphyxia due to water entering the airways.

The Sariasia district prosecutor's office is currently investigating the circumstances of the tragedy.

Earlier, a teenager drowned in Chirchik while trying to retrieve a ball from the river.
