Social media in Uzbekistan has been abuzz with reports that schools are allegedly requiring students to submit guarantee letters for the summer vacation period.

Some of these letters reportedly obligate students to stay indoors after 8:00 PM, refrain from visiting computer clubs and entertainment venues without adult permission, and follow traffic and fire safety rules.

The Ministry of Preschool and School Education has commented on the situation, stating that it did not issue any such instructions to schools.

"The ministry has not sent any directives or recommendations of this nature to territorial departments or educational institutions," the press service said.

The ministry also indicated that if such practices exist, they are not related to official orders and may be the initiative of individual schools or class teachers.
