In the Bostanliq district of Tashkent region, the illegal felling of 27 trees has been uncovered, causing damage to nature amounting to more than 2 billion soums. This was reported by the regional Department of Ecology and Climate Change.

The incident was detected by officers of the State Environmental Control Inspectorate (Ecopolice) during a raid. The inspection revealed that 27 trees growing on a construction site owned by LLC “K.D.” were illegally destroyed.

According to the Department of Ecology, the damage to the plant world is estimated at 2,001,743,200 soums. The collected documents have been sent to the Tashkent region prosecutor's office for legal assessment.

The Department of Ecology urged citizens to take a responsible approach to environmental protection and reminded that illegal actions will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.

Earlier, in Termez, the illegal felling of 217 trees on the territory of a legal technical school caused over 2 billion soums in environmental damage. The court found the former head of the city construction department guilty and sentenced him to 2 years of correctional labor.

For reference, the amount of damage caused to nature as a result of an offense is calculated based on Resolution No. 464 of the Cabinet of Ministers dated November 22, 2022. According to the document, during the moratorium on cutting valuable trees and shrubs not included in the state forest fund, the amount of damage is calculated at double the rate.

It should be recalled that in Uzbekistan, since 2022, the moratorium on cutting valuable species of trees and shrubs not included in the state forest fund has been extended indefinitely.
