Uzbekistan has launched a new system allowing citizens to make online donations for cemetery maintenance and improvement through QR codes. The government resolution came into effect on May 21.

According to UzA, mobile applications will enable simplified money transfers to any cemetery. Funds allocated for cemetery upkeep and repairs are prohibited from being redirected to other purposes.

Starting December 1 of this year, local mahalla committees can submit applications to the Improvement Department, specifying the repair needs of particular cemeteries.

Earlier, the Uzbek government announced a three-year program to improve burial sites across the country. The initiative aims to renovate over 10,000 cemeteries, with a total budget of 1.6 trillion soums allocated for this purpose.
