In the Kitab district of Kashkadarya region, an officer of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Major Husniddin Sharapov, who saved a 9-year-old boy from drowning, was awarded the 'For Excellent Service' badge by the minister. The ministry's press service reported this.

Husniddin Sharapov recounted the details of the incident. According to him, when he returned from work and was changing clothes, his eldest son ran in and said: 'Dad, run, a boy is drowning in the river.' Sharapov immediately rushed to the river.

'On the way, I broke something, trying to pull him out,' he says. When he reached the shore, two children were shouting, 'Our brother drowned.' Sharapov threw a bicycle into the water for the boy to grab, but the boy was frozen in shock and couldn't hold on.

Then Sharapov himself jumped into the water. He pulled the boy out and put him on his shoulder, but the frightened boy started pushing him underwater. At that moment, his brother and neighbor arrived. 'I shouted 'God,' my brother threw me something. I pushed the first child out,' he says.

After the rescue, Sharapov recorded a video to warn the villagers and posted it on social media. Then he found the boy's family, took him home, gave him warm water, washed him, wrapped him in a blanket, and handed him over to his relatives.
