A 46-year-old Uzbek national from the Urgut district of Samarkand region, who was working in construction in the Netherlands, faced severe health complications due to an advanced dental infection and delayed medical attention.
While transiting through Brussels on his way back to Uzbekistan, his condition deteriorated sharply. He was urgently admitted to Saint-Luc University Hospital in Brussels, where doctors diagnosed a critical state. The patient underwent two complex surgeries and spent a prolonged period in intensive care, unconscious and on a ventilator.
From the moment of hospitalization, the Embassy of Uzbekistan maintained constant contact with medical staff and relatives, handling all organizational and consular matters. Thanks to the high professionalism of the Saint-Luc hospital medical team and timely care, the man's condition was stabilized.
After extended treatment and rehabilitation, doctors authorized his transport. The compatriot is now in Uzbekistan, continuing his recovery surrounded by his family.
Earlier, diplomats assisted a seriously ill female Uzbek citizen in returning from Poland.
