Law enforcement officers in the Jarkurgan district of Surxondaryo region have uncovered two cases of illegal cultivation of narcotic plants. Over 300 opium poppy bushes and about three kilograms of dried raw material were seized from the detainees.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, on May 11, during a special operation, officers of the Jarkurgan district police department inspected the household of a local 66-year-old woman. On her homestead plot, 193 poppy bushes and 2.9 kilograms of dried narcotic plant were found.

On the same day, another case of illegal cultivation was identified in the district. At the household of an 85-year-old man, law enforcement officers found 117 poppy bushes. All discovered plants were seized and documented in accordance with the established procedure.

Currently, pre-investigation checks are being conducted on both cases.

Earlier, law enforcement agencies in Tashkent liquidated a large opium poppy plantation in the Almazar district of Tashkent. During a joint special operation by operatives of the capital's Main Internal Affairs Department, the State Security Service, and the district prosecutor's office, about 260 bushes of narcotic plants were discovered on the territory of a private household.
