At a meeting on the development of the chemical industry chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, it was announced that 10 new small-tonnage chemical projects worth a total of $1 billion will be implemented in the Navoi region to expand the production of high-value-added products.

Over the past years, $8.3 billion in investments have been attracted to the chemical industry, and 87 large production facilities have been launched. As a result, the production of more than 60 new types of products, such as PVC, green hydrogen, foamed polypropylene, and BOPP film, has been mastered.

However, unresolved problems remain: the industry's growth rate is below the national average for industrial production, and imports of chemical products reach $4.5 billion per year.

The president paid special attention to the production of high-value-added products. For example, it was noted that the market value of one ton of cyanide salt produced at Navoiazot is $3,700, and when processed into adhesive products, the value could rise to $8,000.

In this regard, responsible officials were instructed to launch 10 small-tonnage chemical projects worth a total of $1 billion in the chemical cluster at Navoiazot.

The meeting emphasized that one of the main tasks of the industry is deep processing of local raw materials, import substitution, and increasing the production of export-oriented products.
