Tashkent, Uzbekistan – Podrobno.uz. In May 2026, control measures conducted by the Uzbek authorities revealed 203 cases of illegal energy resource usage, causing total damage of 70.6 billion soums.
According to preliminary data from the Uzenergoinspection, 31.8 million kilowatt-hours of electricity worth 51.1 billion soums and 6.3 million cubic meters of natural gas worth 19.5 billion soums were stolen.
The agency stated that recalculations of damages have been made for all cases and measures are being taken in accordance with established procedures. A total of 507 administrative cases were opened for violations of energy usage rules.
Inspections of compliance with energy resource usage rules among consumers continue, aimed at preventing such violations and ensuring stable operation of the energy system.
Earlier, Uzbekistan summarized the results of the fight against illegal energy use in the first three months of 2026, with damage from theft of natural gas and electricity amounting to about 196 billion soums.
