An innovative scientific, production and educational cluster for the chemical industry is to be established in Tashkent. This was announced by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during a videoconference meeting on the development of the chemical industry.
At the meeting, the president noted that after talking with young laboratory assistants and students working under the dual education system, and reviewing presentations by scientists, he became convinced that science is penetrating the industry. However, it was emphasized that much work remains to be done.
A comprehensive system encompassing education, research, laboratories, and startups will be created in the sector. For this purpose, an innovative scientific, production and educational cluster for the chemical industry will be organized on 60 hectares of land in the Mirzo Ulugbek district. Within the cluster, a Chemical Technology Innovation Center will be established in cooperation with South Korea. In this center, half of the costs associated with conducting experiments and tests will be reimbursed.
By the end of next year, the Tashkent Chemical-Technological Institute and the Tashkent branch of the Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology will be relocated to the cluster area.
Due to large planned projects in water-soluble fertilizers, polymers, household and inorganic chemistry, there will be a demand for personnel in modern fields such as nanochemistry, green chemistry, supramolecular chemistry, and chemical modeling based on artificial intelligence.
To this end, professors and department heads from 35 higher education institutions training personnel in chemistry have been assigned to the projects.
It was emphasized that from the new academic year, personnel training should begin based on these needs. Overall, a program to launch over 350 projects worth $17 billion in the chemical industry has been approved, and work has been ordered to begin.
Achieving these ambitious goals requires scientifically based and modern management of the sector. Therefore, the need to transform Uzkimyosanoat was noted, and relevant instructions were given to those responsible.
