In the Uzun district of Surkhandarya region, a night race between two unlicensed drivers led to a tragic road accident that killed two people, including a minor.

According to law enforcement, the incident occurred on May 28 at around 11:50 PM on the 132nd kilometer of highway D-169, passing through the Chakar neighborhood. A 17-year-old teenager, without a driver's license, got behind the wheel of a Damas and took four classmates with him. On the road, he raced with his 20-year-old acquaintance, who was also driving a Nexia without a license.

During dangerous high-speed maneuvers, the vehicles collided. The impact was so strong that the teenage driver of the Damas and a passenger in the Nexia died at the scene. Other participants sustained injuries of varying severity and were hospitalized.

It later emerged that the deceased teenager had previously regularly driven his older brother's car, which was known to local residents.

Earlier, in Kokand, a minor driving a Malibu-2 struck three 10-year-old schoolgirls on a pedestrian crossing. One of the victims died in the hospital.
