Uzbekistan has climbed to 36th place in the Inter-Parliamentary Union's global ranking, as the share of women in the national parliament reached 38%. The country's achievements in gender equality and overcoming social stereotypes were a central topic at the Global Conference of Women Parliamentarians in Belgrade.

Senate Chairperson Tanzila Narbaeva, on an official visit to Serbia at the invitation of the National Assembly, presented Uzbekistan's experience in reforming public administration. Speaking at a session on overcoming barriers and negative social norms, she outlined the legal and institutional mechanisms that enabled the republic to jump 92 positions in the international ranking.

The international community and experts at the forum, which gathered over 400 delegates from 65 countries, recognized Uzbekistan's systematic support for women as exemplary. Programs for training leadership cadres, a special personnel reserve, and regular monitoring by the National Commission on Gender Equality drew particular attention.

Alongside political leadership development, the republic ensures women's economic activity through involvement in business, education, and high technology. As emphasized at the conference, Uzbekistan's example proves that eradicating gender stereotypes directly impacts the quality of governance and sustainable development.

Narbaeva proposed intensifying the exchange of legislative experience between parliaments. Delegates were also informed that the next Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians will be held in Samarkand from September 4 to 6, 2026.
