A meeting between Uzbekistan's Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov and Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu took place in Tashkent. The sides discussed the introduction of a mutual visa-free regime.

The key outcome of the talks was the exchange of verbal notes on the intention to conclude an intergovernmental agreement on mutual visa-free travel. The visa-free regime is expected to create new opportunities for business contacts, tourism, and humanitarian cooperation.

It was noted that the visit of the Hong Kong delegation will contribute to strengthening the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and China, as well as developing bilateral ties with Hong Kong.

During the negotiations, prospects for cooperation in investment, finance, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, transport, and logistics were discussed. It was emphasized that Hong Kong's experience as one of the world's leading financial centers can make a significant contribution to the modernization of Uzbekistan's economy.

Special attention was paid to expanding interregional cooperation and strengthening direct ties between business circles.

Additionally, Uzbekistan is working on opening a new air route between Hong Kong and Tashkent, as reported by the Chairman of the Tourism Committee Abdulaziz Akkulov.
