Uzbekistan is set to enroll more than 795,000 children in first grade for the 2026/27 academic year. Officials from the Ministry of Preschool and School Education announced the details during a live broadcast.

The enrollment campaign will begin on June 20. Children who turn 7 this year (born before December 31, 2019) are eligible. The process will be conducted in two stages: from June 20 to July 31, applications are accepted within the assigned micro-district; from August 1, enrollment outside the micro-district will be based on school capacity.

To facilitate parents, the number of regions with online enrollment has doubled. Last year, the electronic system operated in 74 cities and districts for 1,500 schools; this year, online enrollment will cover over 5,500 schools in 135 cities and districts. In Tashkent and Bukhara region, all schools have fully switched to electronic format.

Information on which micro-district a home belongs to can be found on the ministry's e-services portal my.maktab.uz by entering the residential address. By August 10, all district and city education departments will receive Presidential gifts for first-graders, consisting of 12 types of school supplies.

According to established rules, applications can be submitted to only one school at a time. Applications outside the micro-district under additional quotas will be accepted sequentially after the main stage, starting August 1. The ministry also stressed that teachers on leave will not be involved in the campaign; only school administration will handle enrollment.

As a summary of the current academic year, the ministry reported that over 621,000 ninth-graders and over 472,000 eleventh-graders graduated, with more than 11,000 eleventh-graders receiving gold and silver medals.
