The Emergency Situations Department of Tashkent has reported 47 cases of vehicle fires in the capital since the beginning of 2026.
The department noted that the issue remains particularly relevant during the summer period. Experts have outlined the main causes of such incidents.
The first cause is additional devices installed by car owners after purchase. Poor-quality installation or insufficient attention to setup can lead to short circuits and fires. Most often, elements installed for comfort, such as power windows, catch fire.
To reduce noise, some drivers use fabric or makeshift materials to secure power windows. In the event of a short circuit, this can cause a fire. Additionally, careless routing of electrical wiring between installed devices increases the risk.
The second cause is related to the drivers themselves. Despite recommendations to use quality components, many opt for cheaper alternatives due to financial constraints. Furthermore, when malfunctions occur, drivers often continue using the vehicle, postponing repairs. This delay can ultimately lead to short circuits and sudden technical failures, including fires.
The Emergency Situations Department reminded that every driver is obliged to maintain their vehicle in a technically sound condition and keep the fire extinguisher fully ready for use.
