Uzbekistan, Tashkent – Podrobno.uz. Customs officers at the Navoi border post have uncovered an unusual smuggling attempt. During a personal search, nearly 300 packages of various medicines were found taped to a passenger's legs.
According to the press service of the Customs Committee, a citizen entering Uzbekistan was found to be carrying 277 units of various medications that were not declared and not mentioned during oral questioning.
The inspection revealed that the drugs were being imported for resale. Their total value is estimated to exceed 8 million soums.
A pre-investigation check is underway.
Earlier, in the Tashkent region, officers of the State Security Service of Uzbekistan, together with customs officials, prevented an attempt to illegally import a large batch of medicines hidden among food products.
