A fire broke out at the Kuylyuk market in the Bektemir district of Tashkent. The blaze originated in the kitchen of a public catering establishment.
The emergency services received a report of the fire at 10:18 a.m. on June 17. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, rescuers arrived at the scene within nine minutes and fully extinguished the fire by 10:36 a.m. The fire damaged the kitchen roof.
Footage from the scene appeared on social media, showing a thick column of black smoke rising above the buildings, visible from different parts of the city.
Earlier, a fire in an abandoned building in the Fergana region spread to three cars. Rescuers quickly put out the blaze, but two people died and three others were injured and hospitalized.
