Details have emerged of an incident involving popular Uzbek blogger Gaydar Aliyev, known by the pseudonym Gonzo G, who was arrested following a confrontation at a Korean culture festival in Tashkent.
On June 13, the K-Vibe festival was held on Taras Shevchenko Street. The blogger was livestreaming from the event, dressed in a kimono and interacting with guests. At one point, a verbal altercation occurred between him and a police officer. The parties reportedly reached an agreement, and the blogger was allowed to leave the festival escorted by a National Guard officer.
However, days later, law enforcement detained Aliyev. His actions were deemed to contain elements of hooliganism and disobedience to lawful police demands. A court sentenced him to 5 days of administrative arrest and a fine of 5 times the base calculation value (2 million soums).
