Students of Tashkent State Transport University (TSTU) will have new opportunities to study abroad thanks to a large-scale grant program announced by Chang'an University (China). The announcement was made following negotiations between the two institutions.

The online meeting took place on June 16, 2026. Participants included TSTU Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, Professor Bakhodir Turaev, and a delegation from Chang'an University led by Professor Zhang Wei, Dean of the School of International Education.

The talks covered joint educational programs, academic exchanges, research projects, and training of specialists for the transport industry. The main outcome was the announcement of grants for TSTU students.

For bachelor's students, 100 places are allocated in four fields. The grant covers half of the tuition fees, fully covers dormitory accommodation, and provides a monthly stipend of 1,000 yuan (approximately $150).

For master's students, 30 fully funded grants are available in engineering and socio-economic fields. Students will receive a monthly stipend of 2,000 yuan (about $295).

For doctoral (PhD) students, 10 fully funded places are offered with a monthly stipend of 3,000 yuan (about $440).

The expansion of Chinese language learning and the launch of additional language programs at the university were also discussed. The deadline for submitting documents for the grant program is July 30, 2026.

It is noted that in 2025, the "Uzbek-Chinese Faculty of Transport and Logistics" was established in Samarkand as part of Uzbek-Chinese forums. Currently, 15 master's students from TSTU are studying at Chang'an University on grants and have successfully completed their first academic year. The new programs will strengthen strategic partnership and help train internationally qualified specialists for the transport sector.

Recall that on the basis of TSTU, Transmashholding (TMH), one of the world leaders in transport engineering, opened the "Innovative Rail Transport" Competence Development Center.
