The mayor of Muzrabot district in Surxondaryo region, Abdulla Mamatqulov, has been issued a disciplinary reprimand for verbally abusing farmers who failed to meet grain delivery targets. The Anti-Corruption Agency's press secretary Sherzod Saparov confirmed the action.
An audio recording circulated on social media capturing the mayor speaking rudely to farmers, using phrases such as: “If you don’t close it, I’ll shove it… Hey, lamb, close it, understand?” Following the incident, the regional administration formed a working group and stated that the situation was under the governor's control.
The agency’s investigation found that the mayor’s behavior violated the ethical standards required of public officials. Consequently, the agency submitted a proposal to the Surxondaryo regional administration to conduct an internal investigation and provide a legal assessment of the incident.
Based on the proposal’s findings, Mamatqulov received a reprimand. According to the law, civil servants must conscientiously perform their duties, refrain from actions that could damage the reputation of state bodies, and strictly adhere to principles of politeness, respect, and professionalism in interactions with citizens.
The Anti-Corruption Agency emphasized that it will continue to ensure strict compliance with ethical rules by public officials and the inevitability of accountability for legal violations.
