In 2026, 703 billion soums will be allocated to improve drinking water supply and sewage systems in the Namangan region. This was announced on June 23 during a meeting at the regional situation center, where President Shavkat Mirziyoyev listened to reports from officials.

The funds will be used to build 130 kilometers of water pipes, 2.5 kilometers of sewage networks, and nine new water facilities. As a result, 34,000 residents will receive centralized drinking water for the first time, and another 25,000 people will be connected to the sewage system.

Reconstruction of the sewage system in Namangan city will begin this year and will be carried out through public-private partnerships.

To develop public transport, authorities were instructed to purchase 90 buses, 50 electric buses, and 30 minibuses by September 1, and an additional 105 electric buses by July 1.

A primary healthcare model is planned for introduction in Kosonsoy and Uychi districts. Starting in October, a national program to combat heart attacks and strokes will be launched in Namangan, Andijan, and Fergana regions.

Additionally, a 75-kilometer section of the “Pungon — Namangan” highway will be reconstructed into a four-lane concrete road, including 21 bridges and 22 pedestrian crossings.

The reconstruction of the “Pungon — Namangan” road has been planned since 2013 but was halted in 2016. The project was approved by the president in March 2024. Completion was initially scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2025, but work only began in September 2025. The speed limit on the highway will be 120 km/h. The $246 million project is being implemented by China’s CITIC Construction.
