Tashkent, July 2 – Podrobno.uz. The second court hearing in the high-profile case of animal cruelty at a warehouse in Tashkent's Mirzo-Ulugbek district took place today. The court announced the punishment for veterinarian Server Sadykov and his accomplices, but the defense disagreed with the decision.
Unlike the first hearing, where only Sadykov was present, today sentences were handed down to all three participants in the dog massacre. The defendants were found guilty under Article 111 of Uzbekistan's Code of Administrative Responsibility.
The veterinarian's son and a warehouse worker, who according to the investigation chased dogs with sticks, were each fined 10 times the base calculation value (4.1 million soums).
The veterinarian was sentenced to seven days of administrative arrest. His lawyer plans to file an appeal.
Representatives of animal protection organizations Mehr va Oqibat, Hayot, and Ekolog attended the trial. They aim to revoke Sadykov's veterinary license.
The incident, previously captured on video, occurred on the closed territory of a warehouse near a residential building on Parkent Street. The veterinarian was supposed to examine several terminally ill dogs and, if necessary, perform humane euthanasia, but instead beat them to death with steel rods.
