A 22-year-old Indian medical student from Kerala has died in Uzbekistan following an alleged altercation with a fellow student. Uzbek authorities have detained a suspect in connection with her death.

According to the Indian media outlet Onmanorama, citing the victim's family, the incident occurred several days ago at a medical university in Uzbekistan. A dispute between the two students reportedly escalated into a physical fight.

Preliminary reports suggest that during the quarrel, the male student struck the woman on the head with a laptop. She was rushed to the hospital in critical condition but died from internal bleeding despite medical efforts.

The suspect has been taken into custody in Uzbekistan. An investigation is ongoing, and further details have not been disclosed.

In a separate incident, an Indian national was previously involved in a bribery case in Surkhandarya region, attempting to bribe a law enforcement officer to avoid a traffic violation penalty.
